Not sure where the time has gone, but I know one thing for certain - it flew by!

Wanted to share some Valentine creations and inspiration with you.

Here's the projects for my next Do Me A Favor Workshop at ETC in early January.

This is a mini 2 compartment box created from Bazzill/American Crafts cardstock and Carta Bella's Words of Love printed paper line. The heart is punched from a printed paper from Crate Paper. A little Studio 61 tag is tied on with a vintage pink lace. It's an adorable little size!

These little mini Hershey bar wrappers are so dang cute. I discovered them when I was on a hunt for Christmas chocolates...they had cute snowmen and packages on them. I was thrilled when I found these Valentine ones. A Studio 61 tag is tied on using ribbon that I bought while I was in the UK with my mom. The red and white polkadotted or spotty paper is from Reminisce's Ella & Viv line. These would make great little Valentine's for a child to take to school or to give someone with a New Year's resolution to have more self control over food. :)

Cupid's arrow is constructed using a Studio 61 food pick, red velvet ribbon, printed paper from Simple Stories Hugs & Kisses paper line, a Studio 61 tag, a Studio 61 doiley and white lace. The perfect way to wrap these little Valentine M&M's.

This tall back treat box is made using Bazzill/American Crafts cardstock and Reminisce's Ella & Viv printed paper. Embellishments were created using a Studio 61 doiley, tag, food pick and red and white striped trim. The multi colored strip of striped paper is from Carta Bella's Words of Love paper line.

Class is a week from Tuesday, so I am ahead of the game!

Found this little guy today at Pier 1 and I just couldn't leave there without him!

In need of some quick and easy Valentine ideas? Here's a few:

Fill a Studio 61 short stack cup with some Hershey Kisses and punch a hole through the top section in front to secure a tag by tying trim into a bow.

Starting with a presewn Studio 61 brown sack - embellish it with whatever you have on hand before adding candy and gifting to your special someone.

This little favor is made from the new Basic Grey paperline, Studio 61 mini elastic trim and a premade label from Scrapbook Customs.
This sweet box is constructed from American Crafts be merry printed paper line, Pebbles "Merry Christmas" label, Bazzill cardstock, red tulle, black and white baker's twine and Studio 61 black circle stickers. It's filled with wintergreen lifesavers. It is the perfect size to tuck a gift card down into!

This little favor was created for the Make & Take at Inspiration Unlimited {IU}. I just added a Studio 61 tag. The Skittles are tucked into a Studio 61 gusseted crinkle bag and embellished with a bright striped paper from Pebbles. It's a perfect sized favor for a large group and holds many of the prewrapped candies.

The last favor is a Halloween favor, also designed for the Make & Take at IU.

These little Studio 61 mini chevron bags are an adorable size and hold a snack sized pack of M&M's perfectly. We will be making both little sacks in class.
I think it's because I can start and finish them quickly. Whether I have an hour, or an entire day...I can crank them out. It's satisfying to actually complete something! I have so many unfinished projects.

Here's a few I made yesterday using the Studio 61 diagonal striped sacks.

I used the same method of folding down the top and tying shut with lace. You can add a premade tag or a custom quote, or simply dangle a heart punch with a little black safety pin. This little heart punched shape was made with the new Teresa Collins heart punch.

Here I tucked the sack into a little treat box that was created using a diagonal striped printed paper and adorable tag from Pebbles.

Here's a miniature version of the box above, with a band of black and white polka dotted paper from Doodle Bug. I added the circle stickers to both boxes to create a cute scalloped edge. The big red loopy bow made of red tulle and black and white baker's twine add to the cute factor of this little box.

I have my projects ready for my upcoming Do Me A Favor workshop. I will share some pics tomorrow.
Here's a little display I put together to take into ETC tomorrow.

Halloween is honestly my favorite holiday. :)Kelli Collinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12047646192640900473noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6535404491745557458.post-63398992283568762482014-08-08T19:06:00.002-07:002014-08-09T10:38:29.208-07:00Simply Lucky

I have the luckiest life.

I just retired with the City of Mesa with 30-1/2 years of service. Yesterday was bittersweet. I have had a great career, worked with amazing customers, learned from so many co-workers and supervisors and had the best "send off" a girl could get.

Here was my "plaque" that they gave me.

Pretty amazing, huh? I absolutely love it! It's made from an artist who uses discarded items and welds them into works of art. The driver inside the cab is made from a spark plug, the truck from a toaster, the cab of the truck from a small metal loaf pan and the wheels from old skates. The trash dumpster on the forks of the truck has a lid that actually opens up. I love how the incredible artist ties in recycling/repurposing into his art. So clever and so creative. And the talented people I work with even added a mini truck sign of Preston and Jenaye by recreating the life sized one on our trucks. It's absolutely perfect! :)

Soon, it's off to the UK with my mom for one amazing vacation. We are searching the Internet and making a list of "must see" places we want to go to. We are eager to get away, relax and spend time together in a more slow paced fashion. :)

Then, I am loading up the car and heading to IU {Inspiration Unlimited} with Jenaye, where I will be teaching in late September. A great opportunity to meet new people, catch up with gals I haven't seen in a long while and enjoy time with friends in a fun and creative atmosphere. I will be teaching alongside the industry's best, and know how lucky I am to have been invited by Ginger Nelson and Teresa Collins. Here's a sneak peek of the cover of my album.

It's constructed from Bazzill/American Crafts chipboard and cardstock and embellished with My Minds Eye printed paper, Prima flowers and coordinating ribbon. It's a year in review album in the most adorable color scheme that's perfect for any photos or occasions!

Thanks to everyone who has congratulated me, encouraged me, cheered for me, helped me and blessed me with their friendship. Without you and your support, it would all be meaningless.

Here's to a great weekend!
Maybe because I have been so busy, maybe because I am getting older or maybe because we have a jam packed summer with LOTS of exciting changes:

Jenaye and Jackson are moving out into a house with a few of her girlfriends;

Preston, Ashley and Zona are relocating from Denver;

I am retiring from the City where I have worked for over 30 great years;

my mom is taking me to the UK to celebrate retirement and spend time together;

I am teaching at Inspiration Unlimited and

we are starting some serious remodeling projects at the Collins' house.

Life is good and I know I am lucky and blessed in so many ways. :)

I am ready for my Do Me A Favor Workshop this Tuesday and The Club with Amy on Wednesday. But I gotta be honest, this month snuck up on me! I wasn't on the ball like I had been these past few months. The good news...I am ready and I ALWAYS look forward to classes at ETC.

Here's a peek at the projects for Tuesday night's Do Me A Favor. There's only 2 spots left, so if you are planning on joining me...make sure you call and sign up on Monday so you have a spot! :) A BIG thanks to all of you that have already signed up and will be joining me.

This over-sized treat box is made from the ADORABLE new MME Market Street {Ashbury Heights} paperline. Another favorite paperline of mine. The gold polkadots are metallic and if that isn't enough...the color combo is stinking cute! The favor holds shredded tissue paper and the most amazing little salt water taffy from Trader Joes. The cute colors of light pink, dark pink, pink swirl, light yellow and white coordinate well with this paperline. And the flavors? Cherry, Strawberry Banana, Red Licorice, Sour Apple and Watermelon. Yum!
This little bitty box is made from Bazzill/American Crafts cardstock and We R gold polkadotted vellum. I have been paper crafting so long that vellum is back! May Arts gold mesh metal ribbon is tied in a loopy bow and is also used on the front of the box as a little pull to reveal the treats...gold Hershey kisses.
This little pouch is made with leftover paper from the over sized treat box. It's adorned with a bright gold Happy Birthday seal from Pebbles. Reminds me of the old stationary seals when I was a kid. It's tied shut with a teal-y elastic trim that I bought while visiting South Africa. Inside the holder is a little crinkle bag filled with 2 mini Ghirardelli bars...thanks Joyce for telling me about these. They are the perfect size for this little favor! :)
This tall back box holds a regular sized candy bar. The sweet two sided paperline is from the "from Me To You" paperline from Pebbles. It's adorned with a EK Success punched tag, a Bazzill/American Crafts paper flower and lace from my stash.
While I had promised a Christmas favor/treat for this upcoming class, I jumped the gun. This year's printed Christmas paper hasn't arrived yet. But not to worry...when it arrives at ETC you can be certain I will be using it in class!

Here's to a happy week!
I wanted to do something, so I made the centerpieces. Starting with a box of Kerr jars my mom gave me, I bought cans of blue and silver spray paint, flocked blue vintage wall paper, polka dotted and plain vellum, thrifted picture frames and wine glasses, daisys, battery operated votives and $1 photo frames from Wal-Mart to make these sweet centerpieces.
The photos were all different. Some were of her with her hubby, her with her siblings, her with her kids and her alone. The thrifted frames were all different shapes and sizes, I painted some silver and some black. The table cloths were black, so the blue really popped.

The idea of the little wine glass lamps were found on Pinterest. They were the perfect size! The idea of putting these items onto the picture frames was something I did to help keep the items grouped together to create a larger centerpiece.

We ate a delicious meal...BBQ chicken, beans and a to-die-for macaroni salad and danced the night away to a variety of music. I love celebrations and this one was one of the best! :)
This sweet little box is adorned with an oversized paper bow. This adorable paperline is from Simple Stories and I LOVE it! The dainty little flower print makes it perfect for creating little favors. This favor is created using a premade Studio 61 glossy box. Using paper from the "from Me To You" paperline from Pebbles. It's a perfect size for holding small chocolates for any occasion. The ribbon and tag are from Studio 61. Seems like I have been on a Pebbles printed paper kick lately. They have lots of cute paper and embellishments.

Since the crafting and kitting is done, it's time to do a little housework. Maybe I should have worked a little slower. LOL

I made them using Bazzill/American Crafts cardstock {Avalance}, Simple Stories Blue Chevron printed paper from their 24/SEVEN paperline, a cardstock Mother's Day sticker from Scrapbook Customs and mini pom poms from ETC {my LSS}. I filled them with some delightful caramels from Trader Joe's. Sure hope they like em.

Also made a smaller version for my Scrappin Sampler project for May 24th at ETC.

This version is made with American Crafts/Bazzill Cardstock {Aqua & Kraft}, All Boy and Girl Talk paperline from October Afternoon, wood buttons and burlap bows from American Crafts, punches from EK Success, Martha Stewart and American Crafts and solid baker's twine. Now I just have to decide what candy to put inside of these favors.

OK...I am not gonna lie, I wish it was Friday. Still have plenty of crafting I want to do! :)
Look what I found hanging on the door knob when I opened the door.
Sweetest thing ever! Sure made me smile! I remember when I was a little girl we would make little May Day baskets out of the strawberry containers. I am sure you agree...this is way cuter!

Happy May Day everyone!

What a productive weekend. In addition to getting my favors completed and the workshop prepped, I was able to start my project for Inspiration Unlimited.

Here are three of the four little favors we will be making in May.

I used printed paper from the Teresa Collins Save The Date paper line for the band and sturdy Bazzill/American Crafts cardstock for the little triangle shaped treat holder. If you haven't used this paper line from Teresa, you are in for a treat...it's textured! I made a pennant with Bazzill/American Crafts glitter tape. I am so addicted to this glittery stuff! Some custom print work and a lace bow adorn this favor.

Sticking with Teresa's Save The Date paper line, I positioned a section of this printed paper onto my Bazzill/American Crafts cardstock sturdy little itsy bitsy treat box. A little black and white baker's twine and a custom "thanks" banner completed this little favor. This little guy would be perfect for wedding or reception favors. It's a lidded one piece box that holds only a small amount of treats so you could fill it with your best chocolate before gifting.

The polkadotted box was created with the cute Jen Allyson paper line Cut & Paste from My Minds Eye. Yea, it's my latest addiction. This little flapped lid box is a cinch to assemble, yet stinkin cute to hold gift cards, prewrapped baked goods or candy. A sweet little glitter paper punched heart, a Studio 61 Doiley and gray seam binding add to the cute factor of this favor. The little "WITH LOVE" tag is a stamp that was stamped onto Bazzill/American Crafts cardstock.

This fourth cute little hanging favor is made from the Daily Flash Girl Talk paper line by October Afternoon. It's the perfect size to hold 2 mini TWIX bars and who doesn't like TWIX? Solid pink baker's twine is used to create a little ribbon bundle just under the hanging ribbon. A little "Hello" stamp was stamped onto Bazzill/American Crafst cardstock and placed on the front of the favor.

2014 has really flown by so far. I hope the last 10 months of the year don;t seem to go quite as fast.

Last weekend I taught at Create 2014 and really had a great time. The classes were small and intimate, which is always much more relaxed. :) The projects were fabulous and the attendees were amaZing! So glad I was part of the event this year.

I am gearing up to teach Do Me A Favor on Tuesday and The Club with Amy Totty on Wednesday night. A few of you have been asking about the projects for Tuesday. Sorry I haven't posted a pic before now, this past week has been hectic. But here goes...

My favorite little favor is the sweet pink and kraft chevron box made from My Minds Eye printed paper and lined with Bazzill cardstock. My neice is getting married soon and I would love to talk her into these for the shower or the wedding. They look so cute. The adorable little tags were found here http://ohsoverypretty.com/2013/04/22/free-calligraphy-hang-tag-printable/

There are four varieties of tags: {just for you}, {happy birthday}, {thank you} and {you're the best}. The duo over at Oh So Very Pretty are mega talented and share the cutest stuff. :)

I thought I would package the kits using a St Patty's Day Theme, and here's what I came up with.
As I look at my completed project, I am loving how it turned out. Which is ALWAYS a good sign. You know how when you finish up a project you know right away it is fabulous {or needs improvement}? That is the way I create. And boy have I come up with some bad first attempt projects. My only rule is to toss those and start completely over. It's actually alot more rewarding than trying to rework a hot mess. :/

A few of you have been wondering and asking what my project is doing to be, so I thought it really is time to share a sneak peek.
My project assignment was a banner. Because I have a banner or two already, I thought it might be fun to put make a banner with a twist to it. Inspired by a recent girls trip to California, I made this little banner that is perched on a wooden stand. The stand that is pictured is a 12" wide one, but thanks to a friend {Lori}the one we are making in the workshop will be 16" wide! Which means students will be able to add a few panels if they like, or add ribbon, trim/ lace or seam binding in between the panels. The banner is embellished with oodles of vintage one-of-a-kind items and a fun mix of current product. The printed paper is none other than My Mind's Eye, which is certainly one of my favorite printed paper lines in the scrapbooking and papercrafting world! The neutral colors will fit in with any decor and this narrow little stand will look great at the office, in a craft studio or the kitchen window sill.

Now that the fun part {the creating} is over...now comes the dreaded part {the instructions}...wish me luck on getting that done painlessly!

But once that's out of the way...let the kitting begin. I am really looking forward to Create 2014 in February at ETC. I always enjoy these smaller sized events because we get to interact alot with everyone at the workshops.

Not sure if I am allowed to share a little "sneak peek" of my project, so I am just sharing a tiny glimpse. I will be using lots of one-of-a-kind pieces and vintage finds to create this little masterpiece. My Mind's Eye printed paper, seam binding, glass glitter and many other little parts and pieces adorn this little project. Can't wait to share the whole project with you...soon...I promise! :)

Almost time to start kitting...the event is February 21st and 22nd.

Until then, I am creating more Valentine's Day favors.
Love this little one. I simply resized the Studio 61 mini white paper sacks and wrapped them with printed paper and added a Studio 61 tag and doiley. I love that they are quick and easy to create.

Here's to a creative week,

This tag is created using the printed paper from Pebbles new Yours Truly line, it's matted onto Bazzill cardstock for durability. A mini white Studio 61 envelope is cut in half and glued to the front of tag to create a pocket. The envelope is covered with a piece of piece of paper from the Head Over Heels line from Echo Park. And the heart that peeks out of the pocket is created using an EK Success heart punch and another printed paper from Echo Park's Head Over Heels line. The Studio 61 mini white treat sack is filled with treats and then tied shut using lace, ribbon, Studio 61 bead strands and tulle. A little Studio 61 Happy Valentine's Day Tag hangs from the trims.
This little see thru 3X5 Studio 61 bag is written on with a black and red sharpie, then filled with kisses and tied close with red tulle. I had drawn little faces on these bags for Halloween and then filled them with lime green treats, creating little monsters. So I decided I would try drawing a heart and a letter for Valentine's Day. This would be a super good project for kids as well as adults!

I used the see thru 3X8 Studio 61 bag for this one and tied it closed with a big loopy bow using some Studio 61 valentine red elastic.

This little tall mini Studio 61 favor cup is ready to be filled with chocolate and gifted. I used the Echo Park Head Over Heels paper line to punch a scalloped heart {EK Success}and to create a circular base. The paper is glued to a Studio 61 chipboard base which it the glued to the Studio 61 white lace paper doiley. A little silver tinsel stick is hot glued to the inside of the cup and the Studio 61 Happy Valentine's Day tag is hot glued to the top of it. The heart hangs from the edge of the cup with a piece of white sheer skinney ribbon.

I also created two of the four projects for my Do Me A Favor Workshop that's coming up on January 7th. The first one is a little "take away" container that's adorned with printed paper from the new Be. Loved. paper line form Fancy Pants.

The second one is using the Studio 61 3X8 see thru bag and a Studio 61 vintage mini red pipe cleaner, some ribbon, trims and rick rack from here and there.

As I start to work on the remaining projects, I wonder if they too will end up being Valentine Day ones as well. There is just so much adorable printed paper this year for Valentine's Day that I can't help myself!

And all the while I was creating, I was being supervised by Mr. Jackson.
I am pretty certain he was keeping a close eye on me because I was using chocolate in my treat bags. And last nite while we were out for dinner, he treated himself to two mini chocolate Hershey Santas and a mini chocolate Hershey bar. :/Kelli Collinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12047646192640900473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6535404491745557458.post-25079595877876067232013-12-02T19:50:00.003-08:002013-12-02T19:50:57.894-08:00One down....only 27 to go! This little fella is perched on top of an empty tomato sauce can to help promote reducing, reusing and recycling. His hat is made from a repurposed (and painted) thimble and an old black button. Once I get the others finished up later this week, I will post more pictures.
All this crafting is getting me in the holiday spirit! It's a great time of year to be a crafter. :)Kelli Collinshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12047646192640900473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6535404491745557458.post-70277049710220771292013-11-30T12:04:00.000-08:002013-11-30T12:14:27.948-08:00Shop SmallToday's the day to shop small businesses in your community. Supporting local family owned businesses is a great way to boost the local economy. So, today I will be shopping and supporting some of my favorites:
ETC at 2820 E University, FOUND and Design Lab at Robson & Main, The Antique Mall in downtown Mesa and will grab a bite to eat at Mango's, also in downtown Mesa.

And then it's back home to finish up these little guys. My vision is to paint them white, sprinkle them with Diamond Dust, and make little banners to hang in their little hands that say "joy". Instead of top hats, I may give them little glittered crows. Then I will position them onto these little coasters that my friend Karen gave me, along with a little adorned bottle brush tree and wrapped package. Of course then I will need to decide if they need to be elevated onto a glittered candlestick holder, paper mache box, or what-not. Why you ask? Because as my friend Earleen says, "More is More".
How long do you think it will take to do this family of snowmen?

I have a total of 28 to do. A few of them will be for people at work and those little banners will say "recycle". Yea, I know...kinda odd, but that's what happens when you are in the trash and recycling business for almost 30 years. LOL

Maybe it will go quicker than I think, as I have a helper.

Yes, that's right...Jackson is sitting on the bench at the other end of the kitchen table and here is the view I have while working. Maybe he is having some glitter flashbacks from last season when he chewed up some glittered candles and glittered plastic ornaments. When Jenaye returned home from work and found his face and paws covered and glittered, I knew that he was a crafter at heart.

Make the most of your weekend!
I cannot believe that Thursday is already Thanksgiving! Although I am looking forward to some extra time at home and catching up with family, it seems like it rolled around WAY too soon. Always has a way of sneaking up on me!

Last year, we traveled down to Tuscon, and spent the day with Jenaye and Jackson, but this year they will be here spending it with us. Preston, Ashley and Zona are staying in Denver for the "feast" so unfortunately they won't be joining us.

After all the Pinterest inspiration I created some little tags to send leftovers home with our guests.
I loved the simplicity of the "fill in the blank" tags. I will also be using them to package a Thanksgiving meal for Bob's 91 year old aunt.

I made extras and will head down to stock them in my little favor section at ETC tomorrow.

I feel very accomplished since I did my grocery shopping today. I am braving Costco tomorrow for their scrumptious pumpkin pie and spiral sliced ham...wish me luck!

Here's to a week filled with gratitude and thanks for everything I have, including the people in my life. I am truly blessed!
Bring it on! We are ready. It's been a long, hot summer here in Arizona and we are ready for some cooler temps.

Been busy getting ready for the Halloween. Hard to believe it's already tomorrow. Made these cute little treat bags for some special ghouls and goblins. These adorable bags will soon be available at ETC.
